of the house or building.

Venting to the chimney does not allow the chimney to draft the flue gas, resulting in carbon monoxide gas to stay in the chimney or settle back into the building.

However, it is acceptable to vent thru and to the outside of a masonry chimney if no other appliance vents directly into the same flue without a liner.
